There are a lot of foods on the list but we’re going to cover some of the worst foods for fat loss and give some possible substitutions.
I wouldn’t even try to cover every single food that is complementary in helping with fat loss. Of course you won’t need to have every single type of food available in your goal of fat loss. You will have to use good judgment when faced with some situations and try to stick to a sensible eating plan.
This article will focus on certain foods that you shouldn’t eat. This could also turn into a long list as well, so we’re going to talk about the worst foods for fat loss and give you some possible substitutions.
1. Beverages
Cut out any beverage that contains aspartame, high fructose corn syrup, or refined sugar, they are all bad for fat loss.
Caffeine has an insulin-stimulating, fat-loss-inhibiting effect so stay away from it.
Since you need to drink a lot of water for fat loss, try water with a slice of lemon or lime in it. It can be very refreshing and very satisfying!
You should not drink alcohol while on any fat loss plan. There’s no better way to pack on the pounds than to drink excessive amounts of alcohol - even the ones that claim they have fewer calories.
2. Pre-Packaged Foods
In general, you should stay away from a lot of these products. If the ingredients are not pronounceable, you should not eat them. If there are a lot of chemicals on the ingredient list it’s not going to be good for fat loss.
White rice contains starches that can inhibit your fat loss. Stick to brown rice instead.
Pasta mixes are usually also not good for fat loss because of the starches they contain. Stick to whole grain pastas instead. They taste just as good and are much better for you!
3. White Bread
White breads should also be avoided. Whole grain breads have the carbohydrates you need and are less processed than the white breads. Be sure the bread you choose is made with whole-wheat flour instead of just wheat flour. Believe me, it makes a difference in fat loss.
4. Canned and Jar Foods
Again, anything that is canned or jarred needs to be free of excessive chemicals. If the label contains ingredients you don’t recognize, it won’t be good for fat loss.
Chicken broth can be very fatty. So are many soup mixes. The good news is that there are plenty of light or low fat choices out there. These are the ones you should choose for fat loss.
Canned tomato sauces contain huge amounts of sugar and salt. A better choice is to make these sauces yourself where you can control what goes into it.
Canned fruit and vegetables that have been cooked lose some of their beneficial nutrients. They can also contain processed or refined sugar that is not good for fat loss so stick to fresh fruits and veggies instead.
5. Dairy
Skim milk should be the choice for fat loss over whole milk. Try to drink as little milk as possible, however, because it naturally contains some fats that can put extra fat on you!
Cheese is not a good food for fat loss. If you must have it, however, you can find low-fat or fat-free cheese in most grocery stores, so pick these first. But use it sparingly!
Eggs are ok on your fat loss diet, but it’s better to use only the whites instead of including the yolks. Egg substitutes are a great substitute, so look for these in the store as well.
